- ➤ Volunteers and social workers are conducting the annual Point-in-Time count across the Chattahoochee Valley as part of United Way's Home for Good program—gathering data from sheltered and unsheltered people during cold weather. Last year, more than 300 people were documented, and findings will guide local shelter and warming center services. WTVM
- ➤ Goodwill Southern Rivers will offer free tax filing services for eligible families and individuals from Feb. 2 through April 15 in the Chattahoochee Valley; appointments are required. WTVM

- ➤ Jarrett Holbrook and Randy Ratliff set up the new Black Art in America exhibit at Bo Bartlett Center (located on Columbus State University’s RiverPark campus) that opened Jan. 20; the center will also host a free public reception for Elizabeth Brim on March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. WTVM

- ➤ Business leaders and local officials met Tuesday at the 43rd Annual Georgia Economic Outlook to review economic projections and job plans designed to address growing inflation and a senior-dominant population (including manufacturing expansions and the upcoming Vector Center by Fort Benning). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Smiths Station High School Band Program was named a recipient of Music for All’s 2026 Advocacy in Action Award today (recognizing its Rock On initiative to expand band participation) as part of a national effort to highlight innovative music education. WTVM

- ➤ Tax season has begun and will continue until April 15 as Columbus taxpayers gather receipts & fill out forms to file returns electronically.
