  • Magnolia Manor of Columbus hosted its annual Valentine's Dance Across Decades today, uniting Hardaway High students and nursing home residents for dancing and music — Stephen Hardaway and Dorothy Lewis were crowned King and Queen during the celebration.  WTVM
  • A local church is moving forward with plans to house homeless seniors and will provide more details on project timelines and location soon.  WSB-TV
  • Chuck McClure was honored as the Youth of the Year Adult Hall of Fame inductee at an event hosted by the Boys and Girls Clubs Chattahoochee Valley, recognizing his lasting impact on local youth programs.  WTVM

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Columbus Symphony Orchestra will stage its 16th Toast of the Town on March 6 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Columbus Convention & Trade Center with samples and silent auction; a pre-event dinner will be held March 5 at 11th and Bay Southern Table with bourbon & wine.  Columbus CEO

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Columbus will see a $5.18B data center campus develop between 2027 and 2030 that will create 195 high-paying jobs and boost tax revenues. Local leaders stress the project will avoid straining schools and public safety — promising strong economic growth in the region.  WTVM
  • State regulators will decide within weeks on data center fees that affect Georgia residents, including those in Columbus. Officials + industry experts will review pricing proposals at a scheduled meeting.  WSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Columbus Consolidated Government & The Landfill Group began building a Renewable Natural Gas facility at Pinegrove MSW Landfill on Pinegrove Way in 2025.   • Commissioner John F. King announced today a 5% rate cut filed by Allstate that will save tens of thousands of Georgia drivers about $17.7 million in 2026 — a move aimed at boosting affordability across the state.  Columbus CEO

  • A free enrollment event for veterans will take place on Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Goodwill Opportunity Center, 18151 South Lumpkin Road to help them access VA healthcare and benefits with local VA and Disabled American Veterans representatives available.  WTVM
