  • Miracle Riders are set to begin their cross-country motorcycle trip on May 1 to raise funds for Columbus State University’s pediatric nursing program. The group gathered at Frank D. Brown Hall in Uptown Columbus on Tuesday, with 14 riders + 2 new rookies carrying on last year’s 'Pony Express' theme.  WTVM

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Current recommends six ways to trim gas costs such as shopping around, using loyalty programs, driving efficiently, turning off idle engines, choosing regular gas and planning trips ahead. Columbus drivers can check gas prices with apps like GasBuddy+AAA to save on fuel expenses.  WSB-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Applications for the Piedmont Columbus Youth Volunteer Program are now open for teens looking to gain summer healthcare experience at local facilities. The program offers hands-on learning opportunities with community healthcare professionals.  WTVM
  • More than 300 MCSD bus drivers (and staff) were honored during a two-day breakfast celebration held on Monday at Brown Avenue and Tuesday morning on Lorenzo Road, where school board member Dr. Kia Chambers and city officials recognized their crucial role in safely transporting students.  WTVM

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Research by iSelect shows Georgia’s renewable energy share grew from 11.9% in 2020 to 12.51% by 2024 (solar power jumped 3.42 points as hydroelectric and wood fuels fell). National renewables also increased, underscoring steady progress in the state.  Columbus CEO
