ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A kitchen fire displaced three residents from a Columbus home on Wednesday evening when crews arrived just before 6:30 p.m. on Delray Drive + the Red Cross is assisting as no injuries were reported.  WTVM

CRIME NEWS

  • Jermaine Hernandez was shot in the finger during a traffic stop on Manchester Highway when officers fired on his 2008 BMW 335-I after mistaking its backfire for gunshots; a grand jury indicted the officers on aggravated assault and battery while they remained on unpaid administrative leave.  WSB-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Backstage compiled a list of casting calls in Columbus that includes roles in projects such as the short film Remnant, feature films Lowball and Untitled Feature Film, the fan-film Spider-Man: Fallout, scripted shows like P’s and Dirty Dollars, and a documentary series for a principal female host. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Columbus State University launched a virtual fundraising event for its mascot Cody the Cougar’s 55th birthday and is asking alumni and friends to donate $5 or more starting Tuesday, April 8.
