  • Uptown Columbus will host its 15th annual Spring Food Truck Festival on Saturday, Mar. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Woodruff Park with a free Burn Boot Camp workout at 11 a.m. and 30 food and retail vendors plus a live DJ.  WTVM
  • Joshua Williams invites local residents to the Boyz 2 Men charity event — a fundraiser for the youth organization — to support local youth programs.  WTVM
  • A new children’s bicycle playground opened Wednesday at Dinglewood Park in Midtown. The event featured a ribbon cutting, games, free treats and bike helmets from local partners at 13th Street and Warren Williams Road.  WTVM

  • Palmetto Moon will soon fill the former Kirkland’s space at Columbus Park Crossing — marking its expansion with a planned grand opening. The popular retailer will offer its apparel and home goods for local shoppers.  WTVM
  • Georgia business recruiters are asking officials to keep tax breaks that help local companies compete. They say that preserving these breaks is key to boosting Columbus growth (a competitive move for the area).  Columbus CEO
  • 7 Brew has begun construction on its first Columbus coffee stand, and local residents will soon enjoy quality brews at a new spot. The project is part of the company's plan to expand its presence in the community.  Columbus CEO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Last Saturday, the 15th annual UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball raised $250k for Georgia college scholarships at the Columbus Convention & Trade Center. The event brought community leaders, educators, & supporters together while marking Mayor Skip Henderson’s final appearance as he celebrated a commitment to local student success.  WTVM
  • Decorated Army ranger and pastor Jeff Struecker from Columbus has launched a free six-part video series called 'The Warrior’s Soul' to examine the ethics of lethal force and help military and law enforcement personnel cope with combat stress — the first episode is available now.  WTVM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Multiple road projects on Buena Vista Road are causing disruptions for local businesses as the DOT (Department of Transportation) works on a $47 million bridge widening project currently 82% complete after beginning in 2020.
