- ➤ Uptown Columbus Inc.—a nonprofit that manages downtown development and local events—announced Thursday that Columbus State University’s Assistant President of Operations, Steve Morse, has been named as its new president. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Miracle Riders will ride nearly 9,500 miles through 34 states between May 2 and May 23 to raise funds for Columbus State University School of Nursing’s new NICU simulation lab, which is scheduled to open this fall. The riders — including 11 first-time participants — will stop in 32 towns to deliver personalized postcards chosen from over 40 submissions as part of a multi-year effort to reach a $1 million goal. Bo Hatchett introduced Senate Bill 154—passed by the Senate and House—to remove U.S. Department of Education references from state law so that Georgia professionals can safely maintain their licenses amid federal changes.
