- ➤ Today, Uptown Columbus hosts its 14th annual Spring Food Truck Festival where food trucks gather to serve meals to local residents. WTVM
- ➤ Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia has chosen Patricia Eldridge, Brittany Haines, Brooke Peak and Dr. Stuart Rayfield as the 2025 Columbus Women of Distinction. - ➤ Uptown Columbus hosted its 14th annual Spring Food Truck Festival on Saturday in the Valley where food trucks & local restaurants offered a variety of dishes to community members. Tracey Green said the event raised funds for future uptown events including free Friday night concerts & additional community programs, and organizers will host a Fall Food Festival in September. - ➤ Two brothers wanted for capital murder in an Alabama shooting were arrested on Friday in Columbus—police located Rufus Alston and Douglas Armour in separate searches, finding a modified Glock and an AK-47 and booking them at Muscogee County Jail. WSB-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, the Georgia Senate passed a $37.7 billion fiscal 2026 state budget that allocates $170 million for prison improvements by hiring more correctional officers, giving staff a pay raise and upgrading technology. The plan also provides $302.3 million for student enrollment growth, $14 million to reduce pre-kindergarten class sizes and $18.4 million for literacy programs — state and House negotiators will soon meet to resolve differences on private-school vouchers and building projects.
