CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On March 31, law enforcement executed warrants in Columbus that led to the arrests of four men after a two-month investigation, with officers seizing $40,000 worth of narcotics, assorted drugs and three firearms— all suspects were taken to Muscogee County Jail as the investigation continues. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Tayveon Moore, a standout student and leader at Russell County High, was accepted to Harvard University to study what he loves. He will go to Harvard soon to continue his studies. WTVM
- ➤ On March 31, President Stuart Rayfield approved promotion and tenure for 20 Columbus State University faculty members in recognition of their commitment to teaching, scholarship & service. - ➤ The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is unveiling I.G.N.I.T.E.—a program that helps inmates earn GED credits, learn skilled trades using virtual reality and attend financial literacy classes. The program, which started in Michigan and spans 21 counties, aims to reduce recidivism and prepare inmates for life after release. News 3
- ➤ The Chattahoochee Circuit District Attorney’s office has regained stability under DA Don Kelly after years of turmoil, as he brings experienced prosecutors back to the team (including Wesley Lambertus, who recently secured a murder conviction). News 3
