- ➤ Columbus State University hosted a program at the National Infantry Museum that brought together scholars, veterans and policymakers to discuss the lasting impact of the Vietnam War. Historian Robert Brigham (author of a new book) offered personal insights during the annual Hallock Endowment for Military History event. WTVM

- ➤ Georgia lawmakers approved the Georgia Early Literacy Act to boost student reading by funding literacy coaches with a $70 million grant and updating school curricula; the measure passed Tuesday and now awaits Gov. Brian Kemp’s signature. Columbus CEO

- ➤ Georgia Power said Tuesday that cleaning up toxic coal ash ponds is now estimated to cost 8.5 billion dollars, up from an earlier estimate of 8 billion dollars, and extra charges will be added to monthly utility bills; the revised cost was filed with state regulators. Columbus CEO
