Police are investigating a vehicle vs pedestrian accident near 17th Street and Manchester Expressway that seriously injured one person (injured person's condition has not been disclosed).

Two experienced Rangers — Sgt. 1st Class Nicholas Whitney and Capt. Austin Rutledge — are trying to win the Best Ranger title at Fort Benning in a three-day contest that began Saturday.

Whitney, who returned after a knee injury, and Rutledge, who will leave the Army in June, rank second among 31 teams as the contest continues.
