- ➤ Uptown Columbus will host RiverFest on May 2nd and 3rd at Woodruff Park from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. each day with live music by Frankie Mincey, D.S.O.S., Relative Sound and Departure: The Journey Tribute Band, plus food, dessert and vendors for families— the event marks the start of the 2025 RushSouth Whitewater Park season. - ➤ Columbus Police are investigating a deadly stabbing at Summit Pointe Apartments off Williams Road that happened Monday at 8 p.m.—22-year-old Abigail Cadoura died and a suspect is in custody. News 3
- ➤ Columbus Police arrested 37-year-old Calvin Johnson on murder charges in connection with the April 11 shooting death of 27-year-old Jaylon Wesley on Rigdon Road. News 3
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Georgia Department of Transportation and We Are Teachers launched the Every Second Counts Video Contest inviting Georgia teens aged 13–18 from public, private and home schools to create short public service announcement videos on distracted driving. Entries must be submitted by June 8 and winners will receive cash prizes—$500, $400, $300, or $250 for honorable mentions; one teacher will also win a $500 gift card for promoting the contest.
