EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Pizza Hut and BOOK IT! are launching a summer reading program for kids. Parents can enroll children in pre-K–6 using the BOOK IT! app starting May 1, with free personal pan pizzas awarded when reading goals are met from June 1 through Aug. 31. WTVM
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Parkinson’s Conference held at Opelika Public Library offered free workshops and community support, giving patients and families practical tools and strategies to handle daily tasks (and build social connections). WTVM
- ➤ John B. Amos Cancer Center will host a free skin cancer screening on May 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the second floor of June Wright’s Conference Room (in partnership with Southeast Dermatology Specialists) as part of Skin Cancer/Melanoma Awareness Month. WTVM
