- ➤ Olga Kelly, 87, a founding member and longtime leader of the International Wives club since 1975, retired after five decades of service supporting military families at Fort Benning and was honored with the Julia C. Moore award—Mayor Skip Henderson declared May 9 as Olga Kelly Day. News 3
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Russell County sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael Joseph Dowling, 34, after a police chase in Crawford ended in a crash—Dowling, who was wanted on a fugitive warrant from Columbus, and a passenger were injured and taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional for treatment. News 3
- ➤ Columbus Police are searching for two teens last seen near Box Circle around 1 a.m. on May 12 — a 17-year-old described as 6 feet tall wearing a white t-shirt and blue basketball shorts and a 16-year-old in a white tank top and blue basketball shorts. WTVM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Columbus Police have activated 20 automated speed cameras in select school zones that issue warnings or citations to drivers exceeding the speed limit by 11 MPH or more during school hours—additional zones will be added next school year. News 3
- ➤ Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson announced that applications for the summer youth employment program are open—he says it will serve as a stepping stone to lifelong success and civic engagement. WTVM

- ➤ On Saturday, Big Face Sports hosted its second annual Up Next football camp at AJ McClung Memorial Stadium to prepare local players for the upcoming season and help them showcase their skills to college coaches from Alabama State, Point, Fort Valley State, and Huntingdon College. Coach Cedric Ware said the camp focused on academic success as well so that participants can earn future scholarships. WTVM
