- ➤ Columbus police, fire cadets and EMS chiefs ran the 43rd annual 5-mile torch run on Wednesday morning to benefit Special Olympics Georgia; the run started at the Public Safety Building and ended at Lake Oliver Marina, with a ceremony attended by the mayor + remarks by Sgt. Angela Florence. WTVM

- ➤ Governor Kemp signed legislation that creates a need-based financial aid program for low-income public college students + recipients may receive up to $3,000 yearly starting next fall while medical students get tuition aid and families can contribute up to $550,000 to 529 accounts. Columbus CEO
- ➤ Columbus Technical College held a pinning ceremony for its Practical Nursing spring graduates at McCaulley Auditorium, where students recited The Nightingale Pledge. The graduation ceremony will follow on Thursday, June 4 at 7 p.m. at Columbus Civic Center. Columbus CEO

- ➤ On May 13, the Fraternal Order of Police honored fallen officers during a ceremony in Columbus. The event recognized their service and sacrifice and offered support to the officers’ families. WTVM
- ➤ Sen. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock delivered $175,000 to help Columbus State University preserve its military archives — a bipartisan effort that supports historical research for generations. - ➤ Governor Brian Kemp signed Senate Bill 220 today, expanding Georgia’s medical marijuana program to include new qualifying conditions (like Lupus) and legalize vaping for patients; the law replaces the 5% THC cap with a 12,000 mg possession limit and goes into effect July 1. WTVM
- ➤ Sheriff Greg Countryman honored more than 475 employees during the two-day staff appreciation event at the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office today and highlighted the team’s hard work and dedication. WTVM
