Detectives in Columbus are investigating the homicide of 18-year-old Sergio Alamo after human remains were discovered behind Kysor Warren factory in March, and forensic tests with DNA confirmed his identity and showed a bullet hole in his skull; he had been reported missing in November when he was living on the streets after leaving foster care.

Columbus State has named Debra Kennedy chief of its police department—Kennedy, a two-time graduate with 33 years in law enforcement, will begin her tenure on June 1.

Commissioner Harper announced the 2025 Ag Week Photo Contest winners, including the Overall Winner and category-specific prizes from over 200 submitted photos.
