- ➤ Columbus’s Veterans of Foreign Wars post on Victory Drive needs donations to repair its nearly century-old facility after failing kitchen equipment and a gas leak forced the end of bingo nights. Chaplain Isaac Brown, 91, said the group will visit seven or eight sites at Fort Benning over the next few months—collecting funds to keep the post open for veterans. WTVM

- ➤ Finance Director Angelica Alexander remains in her post despite being charged with willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, while former Revenue Manager Yvonne Ivey faces two counts of simple battery—charges being moved to State Court— in an ongoing Muscogee County investigation following a leak of City Manager Isaiah Hugley’s personal information. - ➤ Law enforcement officers, families, and community members gathered at Bibb Mill Event Center on May 15th to honor fallen officers at the annual Peace Officers’ Memorial Service—43 names were read aloud and Mayor Skip Henderson issued a proclamation recognizing their sacrifice. The event reminded all who attended that behind every badge is a story of commitment and loss. News 3
- ➤ The Bradley Park Drive bridge will close for diverging diamond interchange construction, the Georgia Department of Transportation said. The bridge will be closed from Friday, May 30, at 7 p.m. until June 2, at 6 a.m. while drivers follow detour routes. WTVM
