- ➤ Parents in Columbus can soon rely on community organizations to offer hot summer meals for children once school is out. Feeding programs will expand from 26 to 41 sites (serving up to 5,000 meals daily) while district programs provide meal packages to support working families. WTVM
- ➤ Columbus Botanical Garden will host the Chattahoochee Valley Daylily Festival on May 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The festival will feature 25 local vendors, a daylily class at 1:00 p.m. and a daylily show at 1:30 p.m. (guests will receive a free daylily while supplies last) with admission fees of $10 for nonmember adults, $5 for CBG members and $5 for kids 4 and older. - ➤ Bay Avenue Park in Columbus officially reopened today after upgrades expanded its playground by 1,100 square feet, added swings for older children, improved the splash pad’s electrical systems, replaced the bounce-proof flooring and installed new shade structures—boosting safety for local kids. The $445,000 project, started last November and funded by a local campaign and a City donation from Councilwoman Joann Cogle, faced delays when contractors hit a waterline—slowing work—before finishing today.
