  • Kumho Tire USA and the Georgia Veterans Service Foundation signed an MOU today to form a long-term partnership that will offer new support programs for Georgia’s 680,000 veterans and their families — further initiatives will be introduced as the collaboration develops.  Columbus CEO
  • Today, shoppers at Foodland on Macon Road got a surprise when FAITH Incorporated — a local nonprofit spreading kindness — paid for groceries to help families challenged by high prices.  WTVM
  • Dr. Kimberly Offutt spoke about how foster parents enrich children’s lives during National Foster Care Month. Her remarks in Columbus highlighted the positive impact of fostering and encouraged local community support.  WTVM

  • Secretary of State Raffensperger and local partners invite veteran and civilian small business owners to a free FIN FIT event on Tuesday, June 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Columbus State's Cunningham Center + learn fundraising tips during a panel discussion and hands-on learning lab.  Columbus CEO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Veteran journalist Chuck Williams (65) earned his master’s at Columbus State and detailed a crisis communication plan for MercyMed, opening new post-retirement opportunities after decades at WRBL News 3 and local outlets. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials imposed an Uptown curfew today to curb disruptive behavior and will share further enforcement details soon & community leaders urge residents to follow the new guidelines.  WTVM
  • Gov. Kemp suspended the gas tax until June 3, offering about 33 cents per gallon relief for drivers. AAA warns that drivers should avoid letting their fuel drop too low (which can damage fuel pumps).  WTVM
  • Congressman Brian Jack honored six recent high school graduates selected for U.S. service academies at a Columbus Clingstones game Tuesday night at Synovus Park, despite the game being postponed by stormy weather.  WTVM
  • Today, Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper announced the winners of the 2026 Ag Week Photo Contest which celebrated Georgia’s farming traditions. The overall and category winners will appear in the 2027 Georgia Grown Magazine and on the department’s social media channels.  Columbus CEO
