  • Shawna Love—executive director of Boyz 2 Men—said the number of foster children is rising while there are not enough foster parents to care for them. She noted that although House Bill 136 in February increased the tax credit for donations, children need extra support such as clothing and personal items to truly meet their needs.  Columbus CEO
  • Three Columbus programs—Food Mill Shared Kitchen, Small Business Economic Relief Grant Program, and Columbus Correct Care—earned national awards from NACo for innovative community, economic development and health initiatives. They will be formally recognized in Philadelphia on July 13.  News 3

  • Aflac confirmed on June 20 that cybercriminals may have breached customer records including social security numbers and claims data on June 12 — the company stopped the intrusion within hours and now offers free credit monitoring, identity theft protection, and Medical Shield for 24 months.  WTVM

CRIME NEWS

  • Aflac confirmed that hackers breached its network on June 12 and may have stolen social security numbers, health information, and insurance claims—company officials said they followed cyber incident protocols and that an investigation is underway while operational systems remain unaffected.  News 3
  • Columbus police said early Friday at 5:08 a.m. on the 300 block of Brennan Road that one person was injured in a shooting and no arrests have been made (the investigation is ongoing).  News 3
  • Columbus police are looking for 17-year-old Jacaila Lewis who was last seen on June 19 around 5 p.m. in the 3800 block of Baker Plaza Drive wearing black clothes and red shoes—people with information should call 911.  WTVM
  • Columbus police responded early Friday morning to a shooting near Brennan Road that injured one person — details about the injury remain undisclosed and no arrests have been made.  WTVM
