Family-friendly events will celebrate America’s 250th from June 27 to July 5 in the Chattahoochee Valley, featuring a 5k race starting near downtown Columbus on June 27, a parade and drone show on July 3, and fireworks and cookouts on July 4 at local venues (details vary by event).

Columbus State University's teacher education programs earned an A rating from the National Council on Teacher Quality on June 9 for their strong curriculum in scientifically based reading instruction (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary).

The programs meet rigorous standards to prepare effective elementary teachers.
