COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Trinity is a 7-year-old American Bulldog mix who has waited 1,039 days for a forever family after being rescued from the euthanasia list at Columbus Animal Control in 2022 and is now cared for by Animal Ark Rescue in Columbus (2509 Manchester Expressway). She weighs 57 pounds, is healthy and friendly, and her caregivers say she is ready for adoption.  News 3

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Popular Columbus Italian restaurant Trevioli said its last day will be Saturday, June 28 due to factors that made keeping the business open impossible. The restaurant will still serve the area through catering (and food trucks) after closing its dine-in service.  News 3

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Georgia officials are depositing surplus tax refunds of up to $500 into eligible bank accounts today, and taxpayers are advised to check if they qualify as surplus balances from recent taxes are processed.  Columbus CEO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Marion County High School student Sir Charles Cash Jones has been accepted into Juilliard’s Summer Program and will travel to Orlando, Florida in July to improve his acting and singing skills. He is one of 42 students chosen worldwide (after submitting audition videos in March) and will start his senior year soon after.  WTVM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Columbus Fire & EMS Department celebrated the graduation of its 2025 cadet class today at the Columbus Trade Center — 36 new firefighters completed an intensive program in Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazmat Awareness, and Hazmat Operations. Deputy Chief of Operations Daniel S. Macon told the graduates they must keep learning — and he recognized two cadets with awards for Highest Overall GPA and Most Distinguished performance.  News 3
  • Fort Benning will host an Independence Day celebration on Saturday as it prepares to observe the Fourth of July holiday a little earlier.  WTVM

  • The Columbus Clingstones have drawn more than 114,000 fans at Synovus Park in 32 home games and seem on pace to break local pro baseball attendance records — a number that exceeds past season totals.
