- ➤ Downtown Columbus is thriving as the Clingstones draw nearly 4,000 fans to home games at reimagined Synovus Park+ local shops and restaurants report more business on game days. The team is playing a 69-game home schedule that will conclude in early September. News 3

- ➤ Columbus Police are searching for 11-year-old Derrick Turpin, who was last seen near the 2000 block of Wynnton Road wearing a burgundy and gold shirt, black shorts and black crocs at 12:00 a.m. on June 27. News 3
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Georgia Department of Labor reported that the Columbus area unemployment rate was 3.9% in May — a four-tenths increase from the previous month — as the labor force grew slightly to 128,476 and initial claims dropped to 403. The report noted that employed residents fell by 353 from April. Columbus CEO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Military officials announced that the 209th Fort Benning Military Police Detachment and the 904th Military Working Dog Detachment were honored on June 20 with the Brig. Gen. David H. Stem Award—recognizing their top-tier physical readiness, law enforcement skills and community outreach. General Gary M. Brito presented the award and noted the teams placed first among TRADOC military police detachments and were runner up for the best performing Army units. News 3
