- ➤ Goodwill of the Southern Rivers announced it will open an opportunity center on South Lumpkin Road in South Columbus—bringing free direct services like job training, education, and skill-building programs closer to local residents. - ➤ Authorities in Columbus are joining Coweta County deputies in a manhunt for 20-year-old Sacario Hill, who ran from officers on Thursday and was last seen near Potts Road — Emmett Young Road; he is wanted on six counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a crime. WTVM
- ➤ Columbus Police are searching for 36-year-old Tenisha Thomas, last seen wearing a black tank top and black tights near the 400 block of 29th Avenue on July 20 at 3:00 p.m., and they urge anyone with information to call 911 or contact the CPD Special Victims Unit. News 3
- ➤ Authorities are investigating a shooting that injured a 25-year-old woman in Phenix City on Thursday at Eagle Landing Apartments on 400 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway; she was transported by a private vehicle to Piedmont Columbus Regional. WTVM

- ➤ The Georgia Department of Labor said that the Columbus area recorded a 4.2% unemployment rate in June—a three-tenths point rise from May. The labor force increased by 1,190 to 129,725, with small gains in employed residents and total jobs. Columbus CEO

- ➤ Georgia is beginning a new school year with laws to boost school safety and improve learning for students.
