  • Columbus law enforcement and residents gathered on August 5th for National Night Out 2025 at parks, church parking lots and neighborhood streets to break down barriers—officers made 36 stops to engage with the community through games and conversations. This event aimed to build lasting trust that helps keep our streets safe.  News 3

  • Georgia Power announced Valerie Montgomery Rice was elected to its board of directors—she is the president and CEO of Morehouse School of Medicine and brings decades of leadership in health and education across Georgia. CRIME NEWS

  • The Columbus Police Department arrested Derrin Mabry on Wednesday in connection to the May 5 Avalon Apartment shooting that left one man dead and one injured. Mabry is the fourth suspect in the case – he appeared in court Friday – and he faces charges for murder, aggravated assault, and criminal attempt robbery.  News 3
  • The Dillingham Street Bridge in downtown Columbus is temporarily closed after a diver reportedly found potential explosive devices in the Chattahoochee River—local police and the bomb squad are investigating while Fire and EMS remain on standby.  News 3

  • Today, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper and Georgia Grown launched the official 2025 Georgia Grown Farmers Market Map—featuring more than 50 certified markets from North Georgia to the coastal plains.
