A Columbus dad has launched a campaign to raise awareness on youth violence and promote safe spaces for young people.
He will work with local schools and community groups to host events in the coming weeks.
A new Hometown Hero program is underway at The Methodist Home to restore childhood experiences and strengthen local families.
The effort, announced yesterday, offers family-centered services and community support to help children thrive.
🎓 Education
District officials said that bus transportation for private ABA clinics ended after an insurance change shifted appointments to after school hours, straining the bus system even though IEP-based transport remains intact.
They are working with families to offer reimbursement options or route changes.
On Tuesday, Aug. 11, Columbus State University reopened its renovated Davidson Student Center after a $4.8M state-funded project that added natural light, more study areas (including an enlarged eSports center) and open spaces for student events; campus and civic leaders celebrated with over 300 students.
🏈 Sports
The Phenix City 12U Little League All-Star Team played Tuesday in Warner Robins after nearly three hour rain delay + they aimed for a spot in the Little League World Series in Williamsport.
Local fans backed the team at Pour Decisions Sports Bar and Grill amid record registration since 2023.
