Army Specialist Alvin Ray Hinton, a local veteran whose remains had been unclaimed, was laid to rest Monday at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery after he died on June 15.
The American Legion led the service to honor his military service.

Gas prices in Georgia have risen 3 cents this week to $3.79 per gallon, which is 7 cents higher than last month + 88 cents above last year's $2.91 average.
AAA said global oil market uncertainty is driving the increase.
🎓 Education
Columbus High School earned second place in the state after a review of its academic performance.
School officials said the ranking boosts student morale and community pride.
Columbus High School earned the No. 2 ranking in the state and No. 70 nationally after climbing eight spots in the latest U.S. News & World Report ratings.
The update was released on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
Olivia Price announced a new high school program that will let students earn their real estate license in Georgia; the program aims to open career paths (with support from local educators).
