Columbus will host the Second Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Saturday, Sept.
12 at Synovus Park where the Clingstones play, with participants climbing 2,200 steps starting at 8:46 a.m. and receiving a coin, T-shirt, and swag bag ($50 registration) to support firefighter assistance.
The First Ladies of Columbus Charity Luncheon will take place Sept.
26 at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. The event will honor local women + support fundraising for community causes.
🎓 Education
Columbus State University presents a year-long lecture series funded by the Hallock Endowment for Military History — the free series explores the U.S. war in Afghanistan.
It kicks off on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. in Rankin Livery on the RiverPark Campus.
Phenix City Board of Education approved the 2026-2027 fiscal budget Tuesday despite losing a county tax mill that funds schools; Superintendent Nathan Walters said the loss will not affect the current school year and expects the tax to return Nov.

Columbus State Athletics and the YMCA announced a jersey-patch partnership for men’s basketball that will appear on game uniforms pending NCAA approval at the January 2027 convention (further details on community engagement and scorer’s table branding will be shared).
