  • At Fort Benning, graduating soldiers march past the Global War on Terrorism monument that holds a steel beam from the World Trade Center and a plaque honoring Col. Rick Rescorla for saving around 2,700 people on 9/11—his brave actions continue to remind us of the sacrifice made on that tragic day.  News 3
  • Volunteers worked to beautify Fort Mitchell Cemetery on 9/11 (Patriot Day) to honor heroes as part of a nationwide effort.  WTVM
  • House of Heroes in the Chattahoochee Valley hosted its 6th annual Bids & Bubbly event to raise funds for local causes, drawing donors and community supporters. The event showcased a lively spirit as residents came together to support the charity effort.  WTVM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Blanchard Elementary’s flag, created by over 650 students after 9/11, is now on permanent display at Columbus State University. The flag helped children share their feelings and was later honored at the Pentagon—showing its lasting impact on the community.  News 3

  • An interview on a Sickle-Cell awareness walk-a-thon explained the event’s goals—highlighting plans to boost support and education about the disease within the community.  WTVM
