- ➤ At Columbus State University, over 100 boxes of military documents from the post-Vietnam War era have been added to the archive. The collection (donated by the Marsh family, retired Army social worker Jim Martin, and former Fort Benning commander Patrick Donahoe) includes records that capture major changes in Army technology and operations for future research. - ➤ Today, Columbus City Council unanimously approved a gun safety proposal that would ban carrying firearms in recreation centers and sent it to state lawmakers for the 2026 legislative session — Councilor Toyia Tucker said the measure protects employees following a fatal incident — and it will be reviewed in Atlanta. - ➤ Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman introduced the new deputy mascot—Deputy Scogee Bear—at the Columbus City Council meeting on Monday evening after a youth naming contest.
