- ➤ On Oct. 4, 2025, Columbus hosted the annual Mogadishu Mile 5K Run where retired Command Sergeant Major Reese Teakell, the last enlisted soldier who fought in the Mogadishu Battle, ended his 33-year career—joining over 1,600 runners as the community honored the battle's 32nd anniversary that claimed 18 lives.
