  • Sterling Seacrest Pritchard announced the hire of client advisor Chris Walker in its Columbus office—he will focus on risk management for construction, nonprofit organizations, public entities and privately held businesses—and his industry experience spans over 20 years.  Columbus CEO
  • On Sept. 24 a notice taped to the closed Macon Road Guthrie’s fast food restaurant said the chain will relocate to a new Columbus site—its summer 2021 branch in a former Taco Bell closed while the Veterans Parkway location remains open and details of the new site are pending.  WTVM

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local Latinx restaurant owners share their heritage through food and lively Latin dancing nights in Columbus. Agave, Me Encanta, and Bodega 1205 will continue to celebrate these traditions even after Hispanic Heritage Month ends on Oct. 15—local businesses serve culture every day.  News 3
  • Wynnbrook Christian School held a cultural showcase for Hispanic Heritage Month where seventh and eighth graders presented research on Latino traditions from Panama, Bolivia, and El Salvador—students researched and created costumes while teacher Deiry Stone said the project teaches respect for diverse cultures.  News 3

  • Dorothy Height Elementary School on Benning Drive opened its PAW — Perfect Attendance Award — store to let students with perfect attendance shop for items like cleaning supplies and diapers. Principal Meredith Adams, with support from United Way, Dr. Asante’ Hiltz, and University of Texas defensive back Jelani McDonald, created the program to boost attendance and help families facing food insecurity and homelessness.  News 3

  • Today the Fair Food Fight contest announced its 'Sweet Treat' winner at the local fair in Columbus—officials praised the winning dessert for its unique flavor and presentation.  WTVM
  • A family-run lodge in Taylor County is now taking reservations for the 2025–2026 quail hunting season; the season will run from November 8 to February 28 and offers guided hunts, trained dog teams, and hearty Southern meals on a 1,200–acre plantation.
