- ➤ Columbus residents attended a tenant forum Tuesday night at Girls Inc. on Levy Road to learn how to protect themselves from negligent landlords. - ➤ Southeastern Grocers LLC said it will rebrand as The Winn-Dixie Company in early next year and sell or close 32 Winn-Dixie and eight Harveys stores in Georgia, including the Columbus location, to focus on its core markets+ the company will invest in remaining stores in Florida and southern Georgia to modernize operations as part of its shift after a recent sale by discount grocer Aldi. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Columbus High School added a legal services pathway with a new mock courtroom + where students practice law skills. The program offers courses that prepare students for college and legal careers + giving them hands-on experience. WTVM
- ➤ On Monday, Columbus held a ribbon cutting at Bright Futures childcare facility located at Fort Church at 1342 17th Street—this new center can house 140 children under 12 and is a joint effort by SafeHouse Ministries and Fort Church to help ease the childcare shortage. SafeHouse Ministries Executive Director Neil Richardson said Columbus faces a crunch with 14,400 children under four and fewer than 8,000 childcare spots. News 3
