- ➤ Goodwill of the Southern Rivers will host a free community resource event at its new center on South Lumpkin Road on Oct. 30 from noon to 2 p.m. — the event offers skill-building programs, childcare assistance, and help with identification documents to connect families with essential support. - ➤ Local families have felt the impact of the government shutdown and are asking for help with bills, gas, and groceries. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A team of college scientists from Columbus State and other institutions studied a 115-million-year-old shark bone from Australia that shows giant sharks appeared 15 million years earlier than experts thought. The study used new methods to measure the bone — and it will guide future research on shark evolution. Columbus State University
