- ➤ A research team that included scientists from Columbus State University uncovered a 115-million-year-old shark fossil that shows giant lamniform sharks evolved 15 million years earlier than previously thought, with body lengths estimated at 6 to 8 meters and weights over 3 tons—indicating cooler water may have boosted their survival.
