  • Columbus Parks and Recreation will host two Thanksgiving food drives this month to collect non-perishable items at several recreation centers and the Frank Chester Senior Center, which will accept donations until Nov 22.   • The Muscogee County Library Foundation will host a Cocktails and Comedy event at the Columbus Public Library to support local libraries—Laura Ann Mann explained what to expect at the upcoming event.   • The Technical College System of Georgia announced its 2025 Alumni of the Year during the Fall Leadership Conference in Savannah—22 outstanding graduates from various technical colleges across the state were honored for their professional achievements and community impact.   • Columbus State University is becoming a top military archive after receiving its largest donation over the summer—20 pallets of boxes filled with documents from the families of John Marsh and James Martin, with Military History Chair Dr. David Kieran leading an effort that began nearly a year ago and now expands the collection to include records from local soldiers and Fort Benning commanders.  News 3

HEALTH NEWS

  • After clocks fell back over the weekend in Columbus, mental health expert Dr. Charlotte Michelle Sanchez warned that less daylight may cause Seasonal Affective Disorder and lead to tiredness, anxiousness, and depression. She advised residents to keep a normal routine by working out, getting sunlight, taking vitamin D, and staying connected with family and friends.  News 3
