COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, WTVM announced a holiday food drive in partnership with local organizations to collect food and monetary donations for those facing food insecurity in the Chattahoochee Valley. Donations will be accepted at drop-off boxes at Sons Chevrolet, Sons Ford, and APCU Credit Union on Bradley Parkway — a special event will be held at the station on November 19.  WTVM

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Today, a new pet wellness facility opened in Columbus’s Midtown district with a ribbon cutting celebration hosted by Midtown Inc. at the renovated Wynnton Building—Ruff-ined Pet Wellness Club now offers daycare, boarding, and spa-like care for pets seven days a week.  WTVM
  • At the Columbus Piggly Wiggly on Woodruff Farm Road, cash transactions are rounded to the nearest nickel due to a nationwide penny shortage—store manager Marcus Henderson said the system was implemented after the last penny was minted in Philadelphia.  News 3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A social media threat circulated Tuesday evening led the Muscogee County School District to increase police presence at eight school campuses Wednesday — district and local officers determined the threat was not credible and the investigation continued.  WTVM

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Daniel Gwan-Nulla (from John B. Amos Cancer Center) explained that early lung cancer screening saves lives by catching the disease in its early stages (particularly for those at risk), and he urged eligible patients to seek screenings soon.  WTVM

SPORTS NEWS

  • Starting in 2026, several Muscogee County high schools will be reclassified into higher divisions by the Georgia High School Association, which means student athletes will travel further for games. The change will affect multiple sports (from 2026 to 2028 seasons) and officials say schools will adjust schedules accordingly (to preserve academic time).  WTVM
